How does love work? Nobody knows. If anyone understood it totally it wouldn't be such the mystery that it is would it? Isn't it strange that so many people feel it yet there has been no explanation for it? I'm not even going to pretend that I can fathom anything about love. Let alone theorize and rationalize it. Or perhaps I am, If not why would I be writing this post right?
I think that one of the major ingredients of love is mystery, for is it not our curiosity that inspires us to explore beyond the depths?
Similarly, mystery and the unexpected is what keeps interest alive. The more you hide something from someone, the more they desire for it and the more involved they become. Is that not the very principle behind playing 'hard to get'?
Piquing the interest of the other party to a level sufficient to ensure his/her devotion to you.
Manipulative? Effective? Yes.
What constitutes this mystery? It cannot simply be mystery for the sake of mystery itself, or else I would be falling in love with every girl whose name I do not know. It has to be played out in certain aspects, aspects which I suppose would tie down to what people find attractive about other people.
First and foremost, the sense of humor. Or rather as I define it, the ability to make people laugh. Note that this differs greatly from laughing easily as one makes you attractive while the other makes you a lunatic. Besides, being able to see the humor behind everything only makes you attractive to yourself. Think of it as self mystery. Why do we laugh? Most of the time, we laugh when something differs from what we would normally expect or recognize but yet retains that thread of logic that connects the two. It is at this point that we realize that something makes and don't makes sense at the same time that makes us laugh. The thing is that we must not have been able to see that thread originally but after exposing the two parts, the link just comes naturally and erupts in a burst of laughter. it is this not seeing the original connection, that sudden revelation of link that makes humor a part of mystery, and also why we tend to like people with a good sense of humor.
Besides, humor makes you look relaxed, carefree and confident, and as we all know, confidence is key. It is, as we shall also see, a part of mystery. Confidence is about knowing you have what it takes, and even if you don't, acting like you do. The thing about it is that no one will know how the hell you are so sure what it is is what it is and that in itself is the mystery. Since they know that they don't really know what they are doing, and you look like you do, naturally they'll gravitate towards you. And what's more, just by being confident, you will have the ability to create truth where there once was uncertainty. You will boldly choose the path and set the pace when you know that you are equally clueless about
all the possible routes and in doing so, make it real. What? You think I really know what I'm typing about? Whatever I'm typing now is just one of the many thought-roads that occur to me.
Finally, just to complete the magic three, I will throw in spontaneity. This is another source of mystery as the other side will simply not know what to expect. This, I guess, keep things fresh and interest constantly aroused. It is what makes you just want to be arount that person. This form of mystery just screams: I'm not quite sure what I'm doing and neither are you. But whatever it is, I'm game and it sure as hell is going to be fun!
Maybe you are going to agree with what I say, good for you. Maybe you'll think it is a bunch of crap. It is. but it sure as hell is entertaining crap don't you think?
On another note, it's my brother's birthday today! Or rather, one and a half hours ago. He is all three and I love him!
Its just a sidetrack from the main storyline. I hope that you can find the spark in him and hope that You'll better generate that spark by hook or by crook or You'll be a smouldering wreck before You know what hits You!
